Classical Tradition

The Kāl Sarp framework is treated extensively in modern Hindi and English astrological literature (notably by Bansal & Sharma in their remedies encyclopedia) but rests on a slimmer base in the classical texts than, say, Mangal Doṣa or Sāḍe Sātī. The twelve sub-types and their named effects are largely a 20th-century systematization.

How We Compute It

We check whether all seven luminary planets fall in the houses bounded by Rāhu on one side and Ketu on the other. If every planet is within the arc, the pattern is full. If most but not all, it is partial. The classical sub-type is named from the houses Rāhu and Ketu occupy.

How To Read The Result

A present Kāl Sarp configuration is not by itself a verdict about life difficulty — the rest of the chart still matters. Where the pattern is real, the classical recommendation is dāna and mantra-japa focused on Rāhu and Ketu, not expensive ritual remedies. Read the configuration as one signal among many.
